A strict couple raises their three children using methods they deem appropriate, shielding them from any outside influence. As the children grow into young adults, they attempt to rebel against the imposed rules—particularly the eldest daughter, who devises an escape plan. This is the 4K restored version of the film that won the *Un Certain Regard* prize at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival.
