Workshop: The Transient Scene in Tijuana 2026 at the ISC

The Workshop: The Transient Scene in Tijuana will take place from January 17 to 19, 2026, at the Multiforo of the ISC Tijuana, a training space focused on installation, intervention, and site-specific practices within contemporary performing arts.

The Workshop: The Transient Scene in Tijuana joins the cultural agenda at the beginning of the year with an academic offering aimed at performing arts creators, as well as researchers, thinkers, and academics interested in contemporary languages ​​of the performing arts.

For three days, from Friday, January 17, to Sunday, January 19, 2026, the Multiforo of the Tijuana Institute of Cultural Services (ISC) will host this specialized workshop, which will address the areas of installation, intervention, and site-specific work applied to contemporary performing arts. The activities will be conducted in an intensive format, designed for theoretical and practical exchange between participants and speakers.

 

Workshop: The Transient Scene in Tijuana and its Pedagogical Approach

The Workshop: The Transient Scene in Tijuana proposes a reflection on the use of public and unconventional space as part of theatrical discourse. Throughout the sessions, creative methodologies that engage with the environment, transit, and the direct relationship with the spectator will be analyzed from a contemporary perspective.

The workshop is aimed at professionals and students of theater, dance, performance, and related disciplines, regardless of their specific field, as long as they are interested in expanding their creative processes toward experimental and contextual formats.

 

Taught by renowned performing artists

The workshop will be led by Antonio Araujo (Brazil), a creator and researcher with extensive experience in contemporary performing arts, and Alberto Villarreal (Mexico), a director and playwright recognized for his work in experimental and pedagogical performance projects. Both will share conceptual and practical tools derived from their international experience.
