Synopsis:
Anna teaches violin at a school for young musicians in Berlin. Against the criteria of her colleagues, the teacher approves the admission of Alexander, a boy in whom she detects a remarkable talent. She instructs him with great dedication and affection, and soon pays more attention to him than to her own son. The rivalry between both boys arises, while Anna's marriage falters. But where she failed, her talented student must succeed, and as an important audition draws near, Anna becomes increasingly obsessed with taking him to the top.
