Casa de Cultura Cancún is a public institution attached to the Undersecretariat of Culture of the Government of the State of Quintana Roo. The objective of Casa de Cultura Cancún is to consolidate itself as a space for creation, encounter, coexistence and expression, where the Cancun community feels welcome and motivated to actively participate in the artistic and cultural work of the city. Casa de Cultura Cancún understands by culture the continuous process of collective construction of meanings and their materialization in cultural products where creativity, knowledge and beliefs of society in its diversity are expressed. It assumes that access to cultural creations and actions is one of the faces of Human Rights. Casa de Cultura Cancún's task is to become a space where the citizenship of culture takes place. Citizenship of culture implies: Assume that culture is not an untouched niche or only accessible to a noble caste, but is the expression, in its different forms and formats, of society in its diversities and differences. That culture is in permanent construction and that members of society participate in it in their diversity. That diversity is the richness of culture. That culture is a heritage of all, individuals and communities, where habits, ways of thinking, and future projects are created and recreated. That access to cultural property is a citizen's right. That artistic and cultural creation is an individual and collective libertarian expression. That society as a whole is co-responsible in the process of cultural creation and enjoyment. Culture is a collective task, which is why Casa de Cultura Cancún is Our House.
